Playlists and imports

Save songs to your own playlists, import from Spotify and other links, export them as files, and keep liked songs.

Your playlists

Your playlists belong to you and play in any server that has Orpheus. Nobody else can see or change them.

You can keep 50 playlists. Each holds up to 500 songs. Names can be up to 60 characters, and capitals don't count, so "Gym Mix" and "gym mix" are the same playlist.

Save songs

  • /playlist save name: friday saves the song playing now and everything queued after it. Saving over an existing name replaces that playlist, which is how you update one.
  • The Save button on the player card or the dashboard adds the song that's playing to a playlist you pick, or to a new one you name.
  • /playlist add name: friday does the same by name, and makes the playlist if you don't have one called that.

Saving only changes your own playlists, so it works from outside the voice channel and the DJ role doesn't apply.

Play and manage them

  • /playlist play name: friday adds the whole playlist to the end of the queue. The name box suggests your playlists as you type.
  • /playlist list shows your playlists and how many of the ones you can keep you've used.
  • /playlist show name: shows what's in one.
  • /playlist delete name: deletes one.

The dashboard's Playlists page does all of this too, and can play a playlist in any server you share with Orpheus.

Import a playlist

/playlist import link: saves a public playlist from Spotify, SoundCloud or Bandcamp, or a playlist or album from Apple Music, or an album from Amazon Music. It takes the playlist's own name unless you add name:, and importing over a name you already use replaces that playlist.

  • One import brings in up to 200 songs.
  • If the playlist is longer, Orpheus offers to split it across several playlists, named "friday (2)", "friday (3)" and so on.
  • Private and collaborative playlists come back empty, and Orpheus tells you so.
  • Apple Music and Amazon Music imports bring in up to 40 songs, because each one is looked up by name and checked, and any it can't match are left out.

Find my Spotify playlists

On the dashboard's Playlists page, press Find my Spotify playlists. Discord asks for one extra permission, which lets Orpheus see the Spotify account you've linked to Discord. Orpheus lists that account's public playlists. Tick the ones you want and import them.

If you haven't linked Spotify to Discord, paste your Spotify profile link instead. Imports have the same limits as /playlist import.

Keep an import up to date

/playlist sync name: reads a playlist you imported from Spotify again. Songs added on Spotify are added here, and songs removed there are removed here. The dashboard has a Sync again button for the same thing.

Export a playlist

/playlist export name: sends you the playlist as a file only you can see:

  • CSV, the default, with the column names Soundiiz reads and TuneMyMusic writes.
  • Plain text, one "Artist - Title" per line.
  • M3U, one link per song.
  • Spotify links. Paste them into a playlist in the Spotify desktop app and each link becomes a song.

The dashboard's export gives you the same files.

Liked songs

Pressing Like, or /liked add, keeps the song in your liked songs, which follow you to every server.

  • /liked list shows your liked songs, newest first.
  • /liked play queues up to 20 of them, shuffled. It skips any that are blocked on the server you're in.
  • /liked remove track: takes one off your list.
