Troubleshooting and FAQ

Why Orpheus did something you didn't expect, and what to do about it.

Why can't I skip?

Either you're not in the voice channel with Orpheus, the server has a DJ role, or the server uses vote-skip. Vote-skip is off by default: someone with Manage Server turns it on in /admin setup or on the dashboard's Controls page, and it stays off while DJ-only mode is on. You can always skip a song you queued yourself, unless the server uses DJ-only mode. See who can control playback.

/play said "Nothing found", but the song exists

Orpheus skips results that look like a different version or run the wrong length, and says "Nothing found" if that's all it turned up. Add the version to your search if that's what you want, like /play query: heroes tonight janji slowed, or use /search to pick a result yourself.

Yes. YouTube and YouTube Music links work with /play like any other link, for one song or a playlist of up to 200. An age-restricted video, or a song from an auto-generated music channel, is found as another copy of the same song. A private or deleted video can't be played, and /play says so.

Orpheus reads the song's name, artist and length from an Apple Music, Amazon Music or similar link and plays a matching copy. If it can't read the link, it names the service and says so. If it can read the song but can't confirm a copy is the same recording, it queues nothing. Either way, try /play with the song name and artist.

Orpheus plays a Spotify song only when it can match its title, artist and length. When it can't, it queues nothing and tells you. Try /play with the song name and artist, or /search. Deezer links work the same way.

My playlist import stopped at 200 songs

One import brings in 200 songs. When a playlist is longer, Orpheus offers to split it across several playlists. See import a playlist.

I blocked a song but it still played

Blocks stop radio, autoplay, /liked play and /play from queuing a song. A playlist, a /search pick or the dashboard can still play it on purpose.

Radio started and nobody ran /radio station

Someone on this server started a station, and stations run until stopped. End it with /stop, /queue clear or Stop the station on the dashboard.

Autoplay is on but the music stopped

Autoplay lets the queue end when it has nothing to go on: it couldn't tell who the recent artists were, everything it found was blocked, or nothing playable turned up. Queue something by a well-known artist and it carries on from there next time.

Why is autoplay playing this artist?

Autoplay carries on from the artists behind the last five songs people asked for, and artists like them. An artist from a few songs back still counts until newer requests push them out.

I liked a song by mistake

/liked remove takes it off your liked songs. The boost your like gave it on the server stays until someone blocks and unblocks the song.

Why did Orpheus leave?

Everyone left the voice channel and 24/7 is off, so it left after a minute. Use /resume in that server within 24 hours to bring the queue back. To keep it in the channel, turn on 24/7 with /admin stay enabled: True.

Everyone came back but the music is still paused

Orpheus only resumes music it paused itself. If a person paused it before everyone left, press Resume.

Why did my filter turn off?

Filters switch off when the queue ends and after 3 hours on. Run /filter to turn it back on.

Orpheus stopped after three songs failed

Orpheus pauses after several songs in a row fail to play. Your queue is kept, so press play to carry on. See when a track won't play.

Orpheus says it's under maintenance

If music commands say Orpheus is under maintenance, check the status page. Commands that only change saved things, like /playlist and /admin, keep working.

I can't use /admin stay, /admin autoplay or /admin block undo

Those need Manage Server by default. Someone with Manage Server can open them to other roles in Server Settings, under Integrations, then Orpheus.

Is Orpheus free?

Yes. Every song is free to play, in every server. The promise page lists everything that stays free. There's also a Ko-fi page if you'd like to support Orpheus, and a donation doesn't unlock anything.

Is there an Orpheus Discord server?

Yes. Join it here for help, suggestions, bug reports and status updates. A lofi station plays around the clock in the Lofi voice channel.
