Music on Discord should be simple.
Orpheus is a free music bot for Discord built around one idea: you should be able to join a voice channel, choose something to listen to, and have it just work.
Search for a song, paste a link, or add something to the queue. Orpheus handles the rest.
No subscription required. No premium tier hiding the basics. No limits on which songs you can play.
Built to be free
Plenty of Discord bots put music itself behind a subscription. Orpheus won’t.
With Orpheus, the core experience stays free.
Every server gets access to the same music playback, without having to pay to unlock songs or basic functionality.
Free means free.
A project built independently
Orpheus isn’t backed by a large company or a team of investors. It’s an independently built and operated project.
The bot, infrastructure, website and everything behind it are maintained by its developer, Glex.
That also means running it comes with real costs. Servers, bandwidth, infrastructure and development all add up.
If you enjoy using Orpheus and want to help keep it running, you can support the project through Ko-fi.
Support is completely optional. There are no locked songs, no hidden playback limits, and nothing you need to buy to play music.
Still being built
Orpheus isn’t finished.
The goal isn’t just to make another Discord bot that plays music. It’s to build a music experience that feels reliable, straightforward and genuinely useful in a Discord community.
That means improving playback, adding features people actually want, fixing the things that inevitably break, and continuing to make Orpheus better over time.
Some projects eventually become bloated with features nobody asked for. Orpheus is trying very hard not to become one of those.
