Radio and autoplay

Keep music going when the queue runs out, start a radio station, and steer both with likes and blocks.

For a shorter tour with a live example, see autoplay and radio that learn from your likes.

Autoplay

Autoplay keeps the music going when the queue runs out. It's off by default. Turn it on with /admin autoplay enabled: True, the Autoplay button on the player card, or Keep going when the queue ends on the dashboard. It stays on for the whole server until someone turns it off.

When the last song finishes, autoplay carries on from the artists behind the last five songs people asked for, plus artists like them. Songs that autoplay or radio picked don't count, so it doesn't drift away from what your server actually played. A short message in the channel says which artists it's carrying on from.

Autoplay doesn't repeat songs it played recently, and doesn't stack the same artist.

/stop or turning autoplay off ends it. /queue clear doesn't: autoplay picks up again after the current song. If the server has a radio station running, the station carries on instead.

Radio stations

A station plays songs of one kind until someone stops it. Start one with /radio station:

  • /radio station on its own opens a menu of moods, genres, scenes, decades, country charts and artists. Only you see it.
  • The station box of /radio station suggests stations as you type. Short names work, so "dnb" finds Drum and bass. Type something that isn't a station and Orpheus builds one around it: a genre, a big artist's top tracks, or a theme.
  • /radio station artist: Elektronomia builds a station from an artist and artists like them.
  • The dashboard's Radio page starts one too.

Starting a station clears the queue, and the song playing now finishes first. Songs the station picks say "From (station) radio" on the player card. As it plays, it adds more songs like the ones your server has liked.

A station runs until someone stops it. Use /stop or /queue clear, start a different station, or press Stop the station on the dashboard.

Internet radio

/radio live search: plays live internet radio stations. Narrow the search with tag:, such as jazz or news, country: or language:.

Likes and blocks

Likes and blocks change what radio and autoplay pick on your server. They apply to everyone on it and last until someone undoes them.

  • Like, on the player card or with /liked add, makes a song more likely to come up here. It also keeps the song in your own liked songs.
  • Not for me, on the player card, or /admin block song, blocks the song on this server and skips it.
  • /admin block song reason: Not this artist blocks the song and everything by its artist.

Radio and autoplay never pick a blocked song, /liked play skips it, and /play won't queue it. A playlist, a /search pick or the dashboard can still play it on purpose.

Blocking skips the song for everyone, so it needs you in the voice channel and follows the DJ role.

/admin block undo lists what's blocked on this server, and /admin block undo track: removes one. By default it needs Manage Server. Undoing a block also clears any boost the song had from likes. An artist blocked with Not this artist leaves two entries, the song and the artist, and you need to undo both.
